Do You Believe?
Do you believe? that is in the Bible?
Do you believe what the Bible says?
Do you believe if we read something in the Bible that we should obey it?
There is a lot of people who would say yes to the above questions, there is also a lot of people who would say yes and add their objectives. Which one are you? I would say for me personally that I would be one of the people that if I saw something in the Bible I would be one of those who would believe what I read.
Today subject is about the word "believe" and there are people who believe in the bible that it is the word of God and they will also say that they believe in Jesus Christ, and unfortunately, they believe that is all a person needs to do in order to be saved and go to heaven. While that may sound sincere, I believe (no pun) there is more to it if one desires to be saved and have eternal life with God.
Did you know there were many people in the Acts 2:38New Testament of the Bible who "believed" in Jesus? We are told even the Devil believes(James 2:19) and for sure He will not be in heaven, will he?
While we must believe, we also must believe in how God chose to give eternal life and of course that is through his human son Jesus Christ, this Jesus is the one God sent to be our savior, it is through him we come to God and have access but belief alone is not all that is needed. Scripture tells us that we MUST be born again of the water and the spirit in John 3:3-8. If all it took was just to simply believe then there would have been no need for Jesus to instruct his disciples to wait for the promise of the Holy Ghost in Acts 1:8 as we know those disciples most certainly believed in Jesus. Jesus first had to die so he could go away and come back and be with his disciples and us today in a much greater way. He is available today through the baptism of the Holy Ghost, have you ever heard about it? This is not saying a sinner's prayer or joining a church somewhere, this is a real genuine experience that you can have with God today by believing? Yes that is the key! BUT there is more. The first time someone asked what they must do to be saved is answered by Peter in the Book of Acts chapter 2
Acts 2:38
Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
