J. Vernon McGee admits you should only pray to the Father




  Whoa, say it is not so but whoa. The popular J. Vernon Mcgee who was a very famous radio preacher has said in one of his books that we as Christians should ONLY be praying to the Father! My friend what do you think about that? Is this shocking or have you even heard of this man? Can I tell you something on a personal level. I AGREE with his observation, and I will tell you something else, so would the Lord Jesus Christ! Did not Jesus say in Matthew 6:2 "when you pray say Our Father"? Is this not consider prayer TO Father? I think so too in fact the disciples also would agree because in the Book of Acts 4th chapter we read their story of how they were brought before the chief priest and the elders and threatened to no longer teach in the name of Jesus! but let us look at their prayer;


Acts 4:24-31-And when they heard that, they lifted up their voice to God with one accord, and said, Lord, thou art God, which hast made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all that in them is:

Who by the mouth of thy servant David hast said, Why did the heathen rage, and the people imagine vain things?

The kings of the earth stood up, and the rulers were gathered together against the Lord, and against his Christ.

For of a truth against thy holy child Jesus, whom thou hast anointed, both Herod, and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles, and the people of Israel, were gathered together, For to do whatsoever thy hand and thy counsel determined before to be done. And now, Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant unto thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak thy word, By stretching forth thine hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of thy holy child Jesus. And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.


Reader friend, do you see it? they did not pray to Jesus but to God! So maybe your wondering if it is okay to pray to Jesus? I see personally nothing wrong with it however I personally do not. After discovering this truth in the Book of Acts I now make it a habit to pray to our Father who is in Heaven just like Jesus and his disciples practiced. May the Spirit of God direct your path.
