Simon Saw What?
Acts 8:12-13-But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.
Then Simon himself believed also: and when he was baptized, he continued with Philip, and wondered, beholding the miracles and signs which were done.
This story in Acts chapter 8 tells us about a man named Simon, not the same Simon Peter but Simon the Sorcerer. Scripture tells us this man was fooling a lot of people making them think he was something special or someone with great power
Acts 8:9-10-But there was a certain man, called Simon, which beforetime in the same city used sorcery, and bewitched the people of Samaria, giving out that himself was some great one:
To whom they all gave heed, from the least to the greatest, saying, This man is the great power of God.
Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John:
Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost:
(For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.)
Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost.
And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles' hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money,
Saying, Give me also this power, that on whomsoever I lay hands, he may receive the Holy Ghost.
SIMON SAW what? through the laying on of hands the Spirit was given! Never mind the limbs being healed or the cripple people walking again HE SAW that when someone received the Holy Ghost something miraculous happened, although it does not say I have no doubt SIMON SAW some kind of manifestation and if you ask me those believers in Samaria spoke in tongues just like the Jews did in Acts 2 and just like the Gentiles did in Acts 10 why would God be a respecter of persons when we are told that He is not?, and besides look at Acts 8:16
(For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.)
Dear reader, the question must be asked is HOW DID THEY KNOW the Spirit was not yet given? I believe the answer is obvious :)
